Harry A. Lee of Toronto was one of the first Chinese to be winged at a service school of the Royal Canadian Air Force. In July 1942, after a few months training at the No. 1 Bombing and Gunnery School, Lee was awarded his wireless air gunner wings. He was 27 years old.
In a Globe and Mail newspaper article from July 12, 1943, Lee said “It has been swell in training. I have enjoyed it.”
The article went on to mention that Sgt. Lee was anxious to do his part for the war as many of his relatives were living in occupied China.
